The worm turns

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I was Saul. I had a mission.
I was hell bent on attrition
There was nothing could deter me from my road.
I was possessed of righteous fury,
I was cop and judge and jury,
Inflamed by hatred nothing could erode.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I would smite them with my pen,
Smite them one more time and then
Continue smiting till my force was spent.
I would curse them from a height
And pray their crops succumbed to blight.
Guns a-blazing, in I always went.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But then Damascus beckoned.
I was struck down in a second.
The Lord is vengeful and consumed by jealousy.
Now it’s not Arsenal I detest,
For when He put me to the test,
I found I wanted them to knock out Chellersea.

Notes

A lifetime spent hating Arsenal suddenly changed on Saturday when I found myself willing them to beat Chelsea in the semi-final. My dad and grandad, both staunch Arsenal haters, must be turning in their graves.
