The Wrong Man

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Teeth bared, fists clenched,
our hero moves menacingly
towards myopic linesman
who has just flagged for offside.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Hurling expletives, he seems
about to burst before being berated
by peace-keeping team mates
and angry player manager.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Ref’s second yellow met
with more insults
and single finger salutes
as ringer ushered from the pitch.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And this is the problem:
the feisty forward isn’t registered;
the league write to the wrong man
to inform him of his ban.

Notes

My Sunday team has just been clobbered with a hefty fine for playing an ineligible player. Second part of poem to come later.
