They carved our name with pride.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 THEY CARVED OUR NAME WITH PRIDE (Blank verse!)

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 In May, Stevenage Borough and the Borough of Stevenage became a part of Soccer’s History. For those not to sure what I mean, I’ll give a clue.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 WEM-BER-LEY

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Wemberley Wemberley
Went with the Stevenage
And won two goals to three.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Yes, we are the first team to win a Trophy at the new Wembley. I saw the game with my son Christopher. Despite the Stadium’s grandeur I still prefer our ground.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Maybe its because I’m a Borough Fan (Borough Fan),
That I love Broadhall way.
That’s the ground that you’ll find me going to,
And I’m going to whenever I may
Every time I hear the Borough roar,
It takes my breath away.
Maybe it’s because I’m a Borough Fan,
That I love Broadhall Way

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The ground was filling up and down the other end was the “Kiddies”. So I sang them a song of welcome.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 If your Granny is your auntie-clap your hands.
If your Uncle is your father-clap your hands.
If relationships run deep, with just a hint of sheep.
If you come from sunny Kiddie, clap your hands.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Mind they were a bit thick cos they chanted

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Who are you
Who are you
Who are you

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 I chanted back

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Read the programme
The programme
The programme
And you’ll find out who we are.

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 Then the game kicked off. The Harriers were throwing themselves down trying to get free kicks. Our delicate flower Henry lightly brushes their Fancy Dan Striker who goes over clutching his leg and crying out for

14 Leave a comment on verse 14 0 His Teddy
His Mummy
and a Priest

15 Leave a comment on verse 15 0 I jeered

16 Leave a comment on verse 16 0 Has he broke his leg-he might,
Has he broke his leg he might?
But eeh, aye, adeyio-
He’s only laddered his tights.

17 Leave a comment on verse 17 0 Oh by the way there four minutes to the end of half-time and we were 2-0 down. Were we downhearted, where we depressed? You can bet your life we were. If they’d scored a third we were dead and buried. But we are Borough Fans

18 Leave a comment on verse 18 0 We’re all behind you win, draw or lose.
We’ll cheer you on when other’s fans just boo.
We’ll make our stand.
We think you’re grand.
We’re Borough fans,
The finest in the land

19 Leave a comment on verse 19 0 Half time was soon over and the sides came back on. Their goalie was down our end this half so we greeted him in song.

20 Leave a comment on verse 20 0 Daddy should never have bought you the pie shop, pie shop
Daddy should never have bought you the pie shop, pie shop
Well you know the reason why, for you went and ate up all the pies.
That’s why he should never have bought you the Pie Pie Shop.

21 Leave a comment on verse 21 0 The second half started but our boys were up for it and we soon scored. This gave us hope

22 Leave a comment on verse 22 0 We’ll score again, don’t know how, don’t know when.
But I know we’ll score again this Saturday.
Keep cheering through, just as we always do.
Till the ball goes in the Harrier’s net.

23 Leave a comment on verse 23 0 And we did to go 2-2

24 Leave a comment on verse 24 0 You’ve scored and we knew you could.
You’ve scored, as you surely should.
You’ve scored, how we prayed you would.
You’ve scored and it was expletive deleted good

25 Leave a comment on verse 25 0 The game was still in the balance. Then we scored again, 3-2. Then for the second time in the game we froze as the Harriers came at us. The fourth official indicated a minimum of 4 minutes extra time. I sang a prayer to the God in black.

26 Leave a comment on verse 26 0 Blow, blow, blow your whistle,
As quickly as can be,
Before the Harriers
Make it three to three.

27 Leave a comment on verse 27 0 And they could have done, when three of them combined to get in each other’s way and ended up putting the ball just past the post. Then the final whistle blew and our fans and players went mad with delight.

28 Leave a comment on verse 28 0 What can I say about the presentation?

29 Leave a comment on verse 29 0 Wemberley Wemberley
When our Henry lifted up the cup
No-one was happier than me.

30 Leave a comment on verse 30 0 So, a fantastic day out, had we lost 3-2, you couldn’t have criticised the lads cos after a bad start they moved mountains to get back into the game.

31 Leave a comment on verse 31 0 On balance both teams should take pride in what was a credit to non-league soccer. No a credit to Football at any level!

32 Leave a comment on verse 32 0 The match was played in a good spirit and give the Kiddie Fans their due they stayed right through the celebrations.

33 Leave a comment on verse 33 0 So to finish this off, altogether now

34 Leave a comment on verse 34 0 WEM-BER-LEY
