This Is Anfield

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The first league game in 1893
Proud men “The Macs” for all to see
The Celtic mine would provide much gold
From Billy Liddellpool to the Immortal Shankly Soul

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 This patch of land would one day bring
The greatest of all redmen’s deeds
Truth and Wisdom, Glory too
Because of a row with the club in blue

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Hansen, Souness, Dalglish and St John
The list of names goes on and on
From Shankly’s hands the stone was carved
The passion from his noble heart

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The wineskins changed but not the wine
The blood as red grew rich with time
18 league titles, 4 European Cups
Across the years our lads won for us

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Redmen dream as Redmen do
So add 3 UEFA Cups and 6 FA Cups too
The flags and banners all down the years
They flew with pride and dried our tears

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Sadness wept Hillsborough 1989
Friends and loved ones taken in their prime
15TH April 96 names
And Justice hides her face with shame

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The famous Kop in 1994
Was sadly pulled down to the floor
All-seater stadia now deemed wise
But it came too late for those who lost their lives

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The glory days how well they call
Friends all gather, Kopites all
The battle cry, the trumpets sound
Familiar faces all around

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Our precious harvest carefully sewn
Beloved reds and some home grown
From Lawler and Cally to Owen and Gerrard
Kings whose thrones sit in our hearts

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Bill, Bob and Joe still close beside
The pride and soul of Merseyside
From heaven’s bench they watch each game
On Anfield’s turf their hearts remain

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 The loved red shirt so proudly worn
Great days and nights has carried forth
The Liver bird upon each chest
No prouder place for her to rest

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 The songs sing out, the goals they flow
The Angels cheer for well they know
The Reds of faith none walk alone
They’re guided home by Shankly’s Ghost…
