Three For All – Southend v Norwich

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Norwich went to Southend
To play away at Roots Hall
They started with promise
It finished three-all

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The manager was angry
His team ignored his words
They were magic in the tunnel
But produced a game of three thirds

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Although we started brightly
It took 9 minutes to concede
Before half time we equalised
And went on to take the lead

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 On 49 minutes we were 3-1 up
The points almost on the board
Southend pulled back to 3-2
Then, with the last kick of the game – ‘they drawed’

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 We wasn’t robbed: that would be a lie
It was the players with their ‘Fancy Dan plans’
They didn’t do as they were told
And let down the travelling fans

Notes

Nigel Worthington criticised his players after the game, calling them Fancy Dans. Desparate Dans, Fondant Stans, Shamble Hannibals or Ineffective Hectors – it all means the same – we haven’t won away from home and until we do, the glass remains half empty.

N.B. ‘they drawed’ – not correct as far as English language goes but normal for those of Norfolk descent
