Three Jagged White Stripes On His Feet.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 On a bed in a sun kissed Utopia
As an oiled copper arm shields me eyes
‘Er’ indoors said “Babe whats come over yer?”
I’m chilled out, which in her sparks surprise.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A twinkling blue sea sweeps the shoreline
Candy floss sky floats on by
Just then a kid wearing three jagged stripes
Turns on a light in me mind.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’m back in the mode switched on overload
As three white stripes point me to goal
Uwe Seeler, Der Bomber, Franz Beckenbauer
Johann Cruyff, Johnny Rep, Rudi Krol.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I’m seeing Platini, Tigana, Giresse
Bobby Moore, Martin Peters, Geoff Hurst
Beside Bobby Charlton, El Beatle, D. Law
Georgie Cohen, Ray Wilson, A. Ball.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 It’s been a few weeks since seasons finale
A new ones a few weeks away
Ain’t it funny how a small kid on The Algarve
With three jagged white stripes on his feet,
Can remind you of The Beautiful Game?

Notes

As I’m borassic lint (skint) after paying for me new season ticket. I’ve had to body swerve a summer holiday, for this year anyway due to that and the severe economic downturn. The above hasn’t stopped me from remembering terrific holidays of the past, when after a good rest and quality time spent with ‘er’ indoors and the kids, I couldn’t wait to get back to ‘The Smoke’ for the start of the new campaign. So I’ve just written this poem to sort of cheer meself up till ‘The Football’ starts again and the boys at Adidas send me some money for the massive plug I’ve given them here in me new poem! Yeah right!

Peace.

Kev.
