Throat Lozenges Like Stonehenge

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We each have our favourites
The voices that describe
The action on the radio
When we can’t be there live

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Some, they get excited
Over each goalmouth intent
They never stop talking
It’s legalised dissent

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Some huddle under blankets
Some wear overcoats
Some improvise and waffle
When the wnd takes out their notes

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Their voices are distinctive
Like a sport exclusive ring tone
Some are up and down like yoyos
Others like a bust trombone

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Where would we be without them
To paint the pictures of the game
Commentators – we salute you
Radio without you just wouldn’t the same

Notes

Among my own favourites is Colin McNamara, with Steve Claridge as summariser – the dream team. Radio coverage is far more enjoyable than watching a game on telly – the radio guys make it sound like there’s always plenty going on – and all from behind a stanchion!
