Throw Away This Ten Team League

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Throw away this ten-team league.
It really is abysmal.
Playing Pat’s four times a year
Is certainly quite dismal.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
For it’s been tried and tested.
There’s not enough variety
To keep us interested.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
Admit it’s been a failure.
Thank it for it’s efforts and
Despatch it to Australia.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
The First Division’s dying.
The profits only split ten ways,
The logic’s stupefying.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
It’s not worked as expected.
Even in the Scottish League,
The system’s been rejected.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
Let’s visit some old faces!
Sligo, Galway, Donegal
And many other places.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
And loosen up the nation.
McCreevy’s only good idea is
Decentralisation.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Throw away this ten-team league,
Please, administrators!
Forget about the money and
Pay heed to the spectators.

Notes

I would much sooner play 17 teams home and away, than play 9 teams 4 times a season. The attendances in the First Division have fallen since the 10 team premier league was introduced.
