Titch in Time

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 What do you do when your heart is as big as a lion’s
And you belong in goal
But you are only five foot two and a bit
In your ‘on tiptoe’ stockinged soles

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Not many take you seriously
When you claim the ‘number one’
They tell you to play five-a-side
It’s only a bit of fun

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Life may seem unfair sometimes
Some of us grow only small
Attackers can’t even see us
When we stand behind our wall

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Littl’uns can still hold the fort –
Command our area, play our sport –
Give us credit for each ball caught –
Just work with us and give support

Notes

Written for Non and less tall ‘keepers everywhere.

Frustrating when you prowl around ‘your’ area feeling like 6 foot 5 (at least) when the reality is reet petite. As a person of limited verticalness, I asked my favourite professional GK what advice he could give to small goalies. “Avoid big centre halves” came the reply.
