To Stay In Premier League!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We went and gave a monkey* for two tickets from a tout
Although against our principals t’was that or go without
The cost was lost in euphoria and indeed fatigue
As we overcame odds and cloggers to stay in Premier league
Shoe string budgets next year will define what happens then
If we don’t get some money this could occur again
Will it stop me going to “the football”? Not a blimmin chance
As sure as wind is blowing I’ll be in my terrace trance
The boys and me will follow what ever road teams on
Well know there may be sorrow and journeys that are long
Despite it all when comes the call our dream is for the team
To win FA cup competition and have a final dream
The league is just not possible our squad is just too small
Although we extract the oracle its all things to us all
So all you big league spenders who occupy top spots
Remember other members who are happy with their lot!

Notes

This is about relegation and being one of them down there and I have!
The poem should give off a sense of the harsh reality of life at the bottom but with the optimism that you must have, to go to “the football” every week, living with the dream that someday and somehow it will get better! It does but only for short spells usually!

peace.

kev.
