Two Games On the Same Day!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We stood in the Shed bobble hats on our heads
On a freezing St Stephens day morning*
To stay out and about away from whiskey and stout
To watch football was always our calling
Didn’t want to go home rather stay out and roam
So deciding what’s next is so galling
Dulwich Hamlet’s quite close
Fulham’s just up the road
Or Corinthan Casuals is calling!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 *Boxing Day In Eire and much more popular than Christmas Day itself as many Irish people will tell you, there and here, Great Craic!

Notes

I don’t know if anybody else remembers these times? But a football fans
idea of utopia is what they were. You could go to a eleven -o-clock kick off then go to another match in the afternoon with a three-o-clock
kick off all in the one day! I think the travelling was cut back as well so that you only played local teams, but I could be wrong. I saw George
Best and the great Denis Law at Craven Cottage as Man Yoo beat Fulham. About a year later I saw a sell out at the Bridge where we sat on the perimeter of the pitch as there were to many people let in for the Chelsea v Livepool league game which was three all draw!
