Two Shining Lights.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As this winning at all costs
Ensues our sport gets kinda lost
Midst the strokes we witness nicking a result.
Indeed irate and angered fans
Will exude expletives from the stands
Toward “A Drogba” who goes down and feigns assault?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Was poetic justice seen?
As “The Drog” was shamming on the green
Playing on, the Brummie forward line?
And as that round thing hit the net
Despite two raised fluorescent arms by Cech
Offside was not a call that came to mind.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Alex McLeish opened my eyes
No whining moans as his fine side
Were certainly denied a winning goal.
He took it squarely on the chin
Without aspersions kicking in
Toward officials who’d been coached by Graham Poll?

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 An interesting point of view? That’s right
Too many recent Saturday nights
Are ruined by tales of “lets all point the finger
Toward a joke who cannae run
Ain’t got a father, just a mum”
By inept gaffers hid, behind a wall of whinging.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 For the second tale of shining light
Which comes again from Saturday night
Let’s feast our eyes on fare served at The Bolyne
Where six points were up for grabs
By two teams of well committed lads
Determined to improve this seasons showing.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 How Dindane stayed on the field of play
I still can’t fathom out today
Why he even tried a change of foot attire
His captain begged, ”Please pull him off”
As his under fire Israeli boss
Made plans to dump “The Irons” in the mire.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The incident that caught my eye
Involving Pompey’s Piquionne guy
Inspired in me that we’re in with a chance
As Upson’s boot caressed his face
He grimaced got on with his game
When he could’ve sent your man to an early bath.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 A little later on that day
As Pompey’s scant hopes went awry
He could have feigned “A Drogba” for a pen
Instead he chose to stand his ground
As Avrams side went two nil down
So to my eyes, he a shining light amongst mere men!

Notes

Two honest football people (now there’s a rarity), who simply by their actions bring a revitalising breathe of fresh air to our game, and blow away this we must win at costs mentality, but if we don’t, then let’s cheat and put the blame on somebody, indeed anybody.

Two blinding games as well.

A Happy New Year to You All.

Peace

Kev.
