Waiting For Outcomes (Fans)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 it should be all over by now
the good the bad or the lovely –
so why does it always
come down to this
season on season
for fans ?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 some managers call it
‘squeaky bum time’
some players call it
‘the business end of the season’
some fans call it
‘the nighmare of the run in ‘
hard time or part-time
crunch time or lunch-time
it doesn’t matter what you call it..
it’s here
and two games to go
are you
still wating for outcomes?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 some sense and taste glory in their grasp
some like Mansfield and Derby
already know their fate
it always comes down to this
somewhere
last match moments
big game nerves
waiting waiting waiting
always the waiting

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 the cruelty of football is
it doesn’t matter how big or small you are
ten or sixty – twenty or ninety
fans help to shape it all
fans get to take it
fans have to do it all
fans go through it all
fans can’t ignore it
fans just endure it
fans have to give it all
fans have to live it all
fans will breathe it
fans still dream it all
fans know they’ve read it all
but fans still dread it all

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 crossing fingers
hearts beating
clasping hands in prayer
from Old Trafford to Craven Cottage
from Forest Green to Celtic
and look – ok
there are far more important worldly issues
out there
way too many to name
and yes – in context
deep down we know
we are crazy to feel like this
every time every season

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 but tell me -with two games to go
are you
still wating for outcomes?
