Walking under ladders again

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 On my way to the match
I spotted a solitary Magpie
then a Black cat crossed my path
and it gave me the Evil Eye.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 That morning a Bat flew into my home
which made me spill salt onto the floor
on my way out I walked under a ladder
and the Horseshoe was upturned on the door.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 This season I’ve broke several mirrors
opened up Umbrellas in the home as well
stepped on many cracks on pavements
and had bad dreams about Ravens and Hell.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But surely this is just silly superstition
and on my club I haven’t laid a curse ?
But then again it could explain why Coventry City
season after season have gone from bad to worse !

Notes

Inspired to write this after reading Mark Merriman’s poem, Magpie Joy.

On my way to an away match recently to Forest I spotted a large Black Crow or Raven on a Nottingham roof top. It was just staring at our coach.

We were abysmal that day and my son said that bird put an evil stare on us.

So our manager can say if we get relegated it was bad luck that did it.

The Ricoh Arena by the way is said to be cursed by Gypsies, as they wanted the site to put their Caravans on !
