1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 how good was that what sweet surprise
what feast for unsuspecting eyes?
a travelling city on its knees
three nil three- three three then penalties
how great for all who loathe or love
this crazy game to rise above
our faith renewed in such delight
one mystic and eventful night

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 a battle fought to sudden death
with barely time to draw a breath
a fitting close on all that’s been
on large and tiny fields of green
in games like this where words fall short
we wipe away all we’ve been taught
of never ever giving in
of fighting on with pride to win

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 no finer script could ‘ere be seen
no poem on our PC screen
for pleasant as it is to read
was this not football poetry?
