WC2010 : Day 17

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The camera doesn’t lie, but makes us cry!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Well that’s my password out the window
And my plans for the 11th of July
If I write too much about it
I’m sure I’m gonna cry

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The flags can be wrapped up now
And thrown into the attic
No more passionate waving
As our arms go limp and static

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 For we were well and truly Muller’d
Beaten by the better team
Same old story – it’s
The Germans who end the dream

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Plus, one must admit
They were brilliant on the counter-attack
While we were woeful, nay desperate
Floundering at centre-back

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 And just like a bad penny
Video technology rears it’s ugly head
Yes Frankie’s shot was well over the line
Even visible from row Z

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 With our arial tv view
It was obvious straight away
But ground level adjudicators, incredibly
Decided to wave on play

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Conversely, perversely
Argentina’s offside goal is allowed
Big screen replays inside the ground
Draw gasps from the crowd

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 The Mexican players too
Are given fuel for their flaming
But let’s not harangue the officials –
It’s FIFA we should be blaming

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 They are electing
For umpires in the box
Hoping for human intervention
To eliminate all the shocks

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 But how soon will Blatter
Be left eating humble pie
All for the want of trying
A system like ‘Hawkeye’?

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 However let’s be honest
Though the camera doesn’t lie
Ultimately class will out –
And so England are left high and dry
