1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Defeat for Brazil would have been unthinkable
but we were all amazed at the onset of panic.
This much-vaunted ship looks far from unsinkable,
the pressure a concern for the first mechanic.
The terrain has been hostile and volcanic,
the water of hope almost undrinkable.
Luiz’s celebration was a tad too manic
but defeat for Brazil would have been unthinkable.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Brazil, it appeared, were there for the taking
but Colombia lacked the mindset needed.
Because of their fouling and bellyaching,
their sudden advantage was too soon ceded.
Warnings about discipline were not heeded –
their downfall, alas, was of their making.
Silly fouls meant their hopes receded
though Brazil were surely there for the taking.
