WC2014 Day 8 England 1 Uruguay 2

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A fantasist, I’m sure, could not conceive it –
he’d be condemned for going overboard.
The game was slipping; England’s spirits soared.
Magic spell required, but who would weave it?
The pressure built; they fought hard to relieve it,
to see their flimsy one goal lead restored.
But there was just one man who could achieve it
and Suarez’ instincts got their just reward.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The English knights, he put them to the sword.
The game was lost, yet still he sought to thieve it.
Gerrard’s choice to stretch and not to leave it!
And from that long and hopeful ball he scored.
Joe Hart was helpless ‘gainst the impish lord –
I’m sure the man himself could not believe it.
Contender for the Golden Boot award?
If Uruguay progress, he may receive it.
