the counting of cards
Thursday 28th June 2018
England 0-1 Belgium
Panama 1-2 Tunisia
B team v B team?
England and Belgium fielded mostly reserves.
England finish 2nd to Belgium – and now supposedly in the easier half of the draw?!?!?!?
Only Spain of the so-called Big Boys to contend with?!?!?
Japan 0-1 Poland
Senegal 0-1 Colombia
So Senegal finish level with Japan, on points, goal difference, goals scored and their own drawn game.
Japan place higher in the table based on Fair Play, i.e. the number of red and yellow cards conceded in the group stages!

I really like this poem. So many great phrases: “striped and manicured”, “a crowd of heads go drooping”, “and maintain home advantage”, “when Mum blew for dinner”. Much appreciated! Thank you.

Such great words Ray. So evocative of that time of innocence Kepp on mate. More please. It will be under the Nostaglia section too.

As a child I drew crowds; row upon row,
fifteen thousand little circles for the fans,
such a great line…bewcause we all did…and golaposts nets and floodlights too…
