We Ain’t…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Searching for Elysian Fields, Utopia
Nirvana, The Golden Fleece, Tir na nOg?
The next Bernard Briggs, Roy o’ The Rovers,
Or the fortuitous ill-named Hand a God?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 2 Nah. Desiring dreams ain’t reality, true to life-like?
Doesn’t inspire us, to singing loudly in the streets?
What we want is?  The sight o’ Raheem Sterling on his bike,
Flying down the wing. Oh, and perhaps…two more clean sheets!

With sincere apologies to Sharon Jones, for half-inching the gist of her blinding poem, A New England, that inspired this.
Bernard Briggs, goal-keeper, and Roy (Race?) of The Rovers, centre-forward. Both D.C. Thompson, comic-book heroes from an illustrious youth.

Stay sage. Bode well.
