We Want To Go Home

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Our stadium lies empty
the grass is overgrown,
but all we really want
is to return back home.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Our stadium lies empty
silence is all around,
empty seats and terraces
no singing in the ground.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Our stadium lies empty
floodlights no longer shine,
black clouds in their place
a football club in decline.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Our stadium lies empty
all vacant and bare,
standing dormant
like a monument of despair.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Our stadium lies empty
looking sad and grey,
but we want to return
to watch our team play.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Our stadium lies empty
no longer our abode,
so why oh why oh why
did we leave Highfield Road ?

Notes

My club Coventry City are still playing our “home” games in Northampton, while the Ricoh Arena lies empty gathering dust.

We fans have had forums, marches, and at Arsenal in the Cup our five thousand supporters held up signs with WHY and WHEN on them, which refers to our hated move from the Ricoh, and when will we get to go back ?

The Arsenal fans were magnificent giving our fans backing and clapping our chants etc.

I often walk past the Ricoh and stare at it thinking will I ever get to go there again ?

My reference to our old ground of Highfield Road at the end is a question the majority of Sky Blue fans keep asking ourselves these days, but who gives a toss what we think or feel !
