Wearing the Red
¶ 1

From the young age of 7 I took to the red
And for a Liverpool strip I begged and begged
And God must’ve heard and then answered my prayers
For on my 7th birthday I was given a new Liverpool shirt

I have followed the reds now for many a year
They have given me joy wiped away many a tear
Each year a new scarf and a shirt I must have
But my best scarf is the one that was worn by me Dad

We would follow our boys to the ends of the earth
And I’d have followed them to heaven but me Dad got there first
Our faith will not falter and new songs we will sing
And rejoice in the glory our redmen will bring

We will stand on The Kop with our loved ones and friends
Our hearts filled with joy at the heaven God sends
And we’ll speak of the history of our glorious team
For the day comes again when Liverpool reign supreme

Our heroes will run out and there at the back
With his chest puffed with pride the great man called Shanks
And the 96 souls who were stolen away
Will stand alongside us, together again.
