West Ham United

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’ve been a West Ham supporter since I was 8 years old,
First time on the terrace was in the freezing cold.
My uncle always took me there when I was just a lad,
I couldn’t get enough of it and soon was football mad!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Born right there in the borough of October ‘58,
“You’ll be a West Ham fan” said he, my uncle sealed my fate.
Just what the future held back then was a mystery to me,
I simply knew that West Ham was the only place to be!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 As soon as I was old enough with money in my hand,
I bought a season ticket and set off for the ground.
I’d stand and cheer and shout and clap, supporting all the way,
Until I was back home again to watch Match of the Day!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I kept West Ham within my prayers and always said “Amen”,
For the FA Cup’s been ours before and could be ours again.
With fellow fans soon lifelong mates in our own supporters’ club,
We made sure pre-match meetings were always in the pub!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Home or away we’d have a drink to get us through the game,
We calmed our nerves before the match and stayed true to our aim.
The whistle blew and chants were heard from women kids and men,
But win or lose we’d be right back to do it all again!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Seasons in the East Stand could be stressful that’s for sure,
Often in the final moments West Ham changed the score.
Not always in our favour, 90 minutes of suspense,
Would we win the game this time? the Chicken Run was tense!

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Sometimes we’ve had to ponder “staying up or going down?”,
But giving time to managers, West Ham has worn that crown.
We’ve seen the players come and go, our share of weak and strong,
Some were England heroes and we’ll always sing their song!

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Thames Ironworks F.C. before reforming as West Ham,
Over a century later saw a farewell match programme.
A sad goodbye to Upton Park, the faithful Boleyn Ground,
“I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles” now in another part of town!

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 The Hammers’ true supporters are so loyal through and through,
As every season unfolds, they are in the stands for you.
So, play for us to win the game, and fill our hearts with pride,
Come on you Irons! we are right here by your side!
