WHAT A GOAL !

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’ve seen lots and lots of great goals
Some scored by greats like Greaves and Law
Bobby Charlton, Ron and Wyn Davies,
and Forests very own, Ian Storey- Moore.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I can recall one scored by a young Gascoigne
He sliced through our defence like a sword
Beating player after player with ease
The whole of the ground stood to applaud.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’ve been privileged to see other individual ones
And some created by all of the team
But the greatest goal I’ve ever seen?
Was by myself, in a beautiful lucid dream.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I was playing for England against Brazil
The crowd kept roaring out my name
It was the World Cup Final at Wembley
Two all, one minute left in the game.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I tackled and took the ball off Pele
And went on a long and mazy run
It ended with me hitting in the winner
“What a goal”, read the headline in the Sun.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 I lifted up the Jules Rimet Trophy
Got carried around the pitch shoulder high
But when Pele said my goal was the greatest
Well, I just fell to my knees to cry.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 It’s been said that dreams can come true
And that’s a saying I know to be right
Because that “dream goal” I scored at Wembley
Was Match of the Day’s best ever on Saturday night !

Notes

Okay, I suppose dreams don’t really count, but honestly, it was a cracker. (Nurse quick, get him his medication !)
