What Does Football Smell Like?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 What whiffs distinguish your ground?
Damp earth or lush green grass
Hot dogs, burgers and chunky fries
Muscle rub from changing rooms as you pass

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The stench of relegation
The sweet smell of success
Bovril, soup, hot chocolate
Boxing Day cigars (from the memory bank, I confess)

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 First game of the season
Washing powder scents the air
Shirts and scarves annually cleaned
Unfurled flags smell of good times and beer

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 If you go down to Carrow Road in August
Your nostrils will get a surprise
A strong minty smell wafts across
And it’s nothing to do with the pies

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Its mint sauce production time
At Colmans Carrow Works
When smelling like a Polo
Is a Canaries refreshing perk

Notes

Most grounds have their unique fragrance.
At Carrow Road, In February, we have the smell of fear.
