Whatever Happened To Football Poetry ..Roger ?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s not just the stuff that we eat that defiles us
It’s not just the lack of attention that riles us
but sometimes no matter how much it beguiles us
this football can’t speak for itself

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 and so we’ve amassed in these six years or so
enough football poems to carpet San Siro
but it seems that the lofty still don’t really know
this abundance of poetic wealth

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 apparantly nobody writes on the game
no haikus or free verse that poets can name
but twelve hundred here clearly don’t feel the same
so I wanted to make it quite clear

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 we’re above class and time
we’re beyond simple rhyme
there are rhythms and sonnets that I’d call sublime
i can think of a few that prove football’s divine..

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 if you just take the time to look here..

Notes
