A wee Patsy trick

After flicking it, over his shoulder
I stood up and applauded, full knowing
Silent home fans, gave me looks out of order.

With a beautifully executed back heeled goal
Then looking away, from ex-team mates, sad eyes caste down
As tears welled up, in the back of his throat.

Leading Forza Azzuri to another World Cup
Enzo Berzot’s selection decisive
Despite Rossi, tis said being corrupt.

I’m experiencing something so great
Where twenty two souls
Four upright white poles,
And a football, are all reliant on, a two bob tin whistle and fate!

Notes

Just sorta reflecting back, when we had a game we were all proud of,
when…. it has to be said, our game was for anybody and everybody to play, watch and what’s most important of all……. enjoy.

I’m not too sure that’s the case these days.
