When The Truth Turns Blame To Shame

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 when the truth turns blame to shame
when lost lives still scar this game
though they lied not in our name
truth will always out
why so long we’ve always known
in-house codes protect their own
years of no compassion shown
years of nagging doubt

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 we who watched upon that day
saw our brothers dragged away
‘blame the fans’ they tried to say
truth at last we pray
why so long for you to grasp
all those questions that were asked
still you hid behind that mask
justice nears its day

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 those whose lives were torn apart
those whose lives could not restart
all the pain in ev’ry heart
never leaves somehow
those emotions that it stirred
evidence that lay unheard
written in a million words
changed and hid til now

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 those whose memories still recall
those who went to watch football
nothing can return them all
ev’ry single soul
closure never eases pain
decades gone on this campaign
thank god all was not in vain
let it all unfold

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 and although we’ve always known
years of no compassion shown
in each damaged fam’ly home
now no more the doubt
now when truth turns blame to shame
now though darkness scars this game
though they lied not in our name
truth at last is out

Notes

Justice For The 96. So it begins.

This is for all those lost and all those affected.

Also for my mate Rob, one of the ‘lucky’ ones, who can’t remember much of the day.

I spoke to him again today. A gentle life-long ‘die-hard’ ( strangely un-pt term that eh?) Liverpool fan. Rob who ay in,but fortunately came out of a coma, recalls Princess Di being in the ward at some point holding his hand. He was confined to a wheelchair for months and still gets pain, but still can’t bear to watch footage of it or listen to stuff about it .
