Wichita Linesman

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I am a linesman for Notts County.
And I run the left side.
Searchin’ in the sun for another offside

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I hear you singing out of tune.
I can hear you all afternoon.
The Wichita Linesman
Is still on the line.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I know I need an operation.
I cannot see in the rain.
And if it snows, my myopic eyes
Won’t ever stand the strain.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And I flag you more than leave you.
And I flag you for all time.
The Wichita Linesman
Is still on the line.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And I flag you more than leave you.
And I flag you for all time.
The Wichita Linesman
Is still on the line.
Still on the line.
Still on the line.

Notes

I’m sure somebody must have done that before! For the younger generation, its an old Jimmy Webb song [covered by ? Glenn Campbell?] about a [railway] line man from Wichita.
Actually, together with “Baker Street”, “Its My Party” and “The Birdie Song”, its one of those songs that physically hurt my ears.
