Winging It!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As the punters stood losing their patience
At the time that it took to get in
Two young blokes at the next turnstile entrance
Made me smile with the scam they were using

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 As the turnstile went click
One of them was quick,
To duck down, behind his mate with the ticket

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 As the gate let them through
Only one paid, not two
So one of ’em’ had managed to wing it

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 It made think of the old days
When they lifted kids over the gate
Back then, when to stand was a dollar*
And a seat? Nah, I’d rather stand up with me mates!

Notes

In the London of me youth, a dollar was five bob or five shillings.

This happened at a recent league game, I was at, I’m not saying where, cos it’s a great scam, if a couple of young fella’s can get in for nothing, good luck to them, who am I to spoil it?

Even with a state of the art plastic season ticket that has all me dna on it, for all the home league games, I still have to queue for ages, in the pouring rain sometimes, cos there’s no cover over the entrance to the turnstiles, decent treatment and facilities for us, the fans, are still the last thing on the minds of those who grab and squander our money!

The concourse of our place looks like the builder who put it up ran out of money and decided to leave it, just as it is!

I’ve just heard of a bloke who paid seventy two thousand quid for a box at The Emirates! Dunno how long he gets it for, but…blimmin hell!

We used to buy strikers for that!
