He didn’t look up as he hared down the wing,
A swift burst of speed that would make your heart sing.
He beat one defender and skipped round a second,
Then checked back outside as the centre back beckoned.
Sheer pace took him past, when expected to fall –
‘Twas a terrible shame he did not have the ball.
