Women and Football (1)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 It’s not true that women go to football merely to ogle
men’s bodies.
At least, not in my experience, but then I’m a member of what is known as an unfashionable club.
Stuart Pearce’s legs…perhaps.
Paul Hart’s noble forehead…maybe;
Ricky Scimeca’s nose…who knows?
I’m willing to concede a few points.
But the female supporters of my acquaintance go to see
the football;
their knowledge is equal to that of their male
counterparts.
Sometimes we all applaud sheer skill as if we’re across the road,
sitting in the sunshine eating our sandwiches
and filling in our scorecards.
If I’m honest, I must admit to a passing interest in the players’
VPLs
when they wear a certain type of
white shorts.
But I wasn’t very interested in Beckham’s make-up the other year when they scored eight (8) against us.
