Ye Auld Raith Rover

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Dougal McFrugal an’ Jock McStrapp
Were considered a couple o’ fools,
Until they won ten million poond
On th’ Scottish foo’ball pools,
Said Dougal,”We should inves’ oor cash,
I’ve thought an’ mulled it over,
Let’s buy oorselves a public hoose
An’ name it ‘Ye Auld Raith Rover’…”

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 From Firth o’ Forth t’ Isle o’ Skye,
John o’ Groats t’ Gretna Green,
They scour’d Scotland far an’ wide
For a pub t’ name after their team,
Deep in th’ Highlands stood a wee inn,
When they saw it, both exclaimed “Och!
This is th’ place we’ve been lookin’ for,
On th’ bonnie banks o’ a loch…”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 They went an’ spoke t’ th’ owner
An’ also met Beryl, his daughter,
Doog an’ Jock made an offer t’ purchase th’ pub,
Plus th’ contents, th’ land an’ th’ water,
A price was agreed wi’ han’shakes all roond,
Th’ contract was signed th’ nex’ day,
Bu’ beautiful Beryl refused t’ depart,
Insistin’ she wanted t’ stay…

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 So they threw in a couple o’ hun’red mair poond
An’ said,”Och, we’ll ha’ Beryl too,
She can wait on th’ tables an’ help us t’ paint
Th’ pub oot in Raith Rovers blue..”
Folk who dinna support th’ team from Kirkca’dy
Noo enter tha’ place a’ their peril,
Ever since Dougal an’ Jock bought th’ pub,
Loch, stock an’ Beryl…
