13th Bolton Volunteer Freefall Parachute Display Team

Climb the giddy heights
Of football’s Premier League
And you can taste the rarefied air of Europe.
You fly
Players fly
Everyone flies.
Then somebody opens a door,
And the entire team
Becomes a freefall parachute display team,
But seemingly without a parachute.

Great heights
Lead to long drops.
Freefall hurts everybody
With egos falling as fast as appearance money.

But why should the players care?
They’ll still get their thousands per week.
Somebody will always get them a parachute.
But who’ll get one for the team?
Remember – all that waits at the end of the fall
Is Coca-cola.

Forget politics
Just play for the bloody badge.
See Dublin later
