Half way there!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Ladies and Gentlemen
I give you the heroes of the hour… (and a half)
cool, calm and committed
they bided their time
and took their one chance –
when permitted

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 True enough
for the rest of the 90 minutes
they played second fiddle
how Barca never scored, is a curious riddle

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And so to the second leg
where what we really, really need
is another perfect tie
the result in the balance
glory is nigh!

the poem title?

well, we have to get through the second leg yet, and it is only a slender lead.

Champions League semi-final, 2012, first leg…
Chelsea 1 Barcelona 0

Plus, I had Bon Jov’s ‘Living on a Prayer’ reverberating around my head when I woke up this morning!

In the build up to last night’s game, Roberto di Matteo (all bow) was quoted as saying Chelsea needed ‘two perfect ties’ to make the final.
