In The Bleak Midwinter

In the bleak midwinter,
Can you hear me moan?
Tolka Park’s deserted,
I’m here all alone.
Day and night are endless,
Week on week on week.
Football’s hibernating,
Wintertime’s so bleak.

Memories sustain me,
As do hopes and dreams,
Frantic Dublin derbies,
Continental teams.
The atmosphere is dead now,
Cold as driven snow,
In the bleak midwinter,
Three more months to go.
