The Big Secret

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I have a little secret. Do you promise not to tell?
If you breathe a word of it, you’ll likely go to Hell.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Promise you won’t say it. Ensure your lips are sealed.
This secret that I’m telling simply cannot be revealed.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The FAI Cup Final is being played this week,
About which game, the great unwashed have barely heard a squeak.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Waterford and Longford will both be coming up
To hear the roar at Lansdowne Road and try and win the Cup.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The way that things are shaping, there will barely be a crowd,
Nobody knows about it and exposure’s not allowed.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Media publicity would likely fall quite flat,
So keep it very firmly underneath your woolly hat.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The ads have swamped the radio in seeking our support
For Ireland v The Aussies in a makey-uppy sport.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 But the boyos have no money for to publicise the League,
It’s been a long hard season and they’re feeling the fatigue.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 The two teams are provincial, so no-one gives a damn,
Or is that an example of how cynical I am?

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Whatever is the reason, please do not spread the word,
A blanket ban about the match is obviously preferred.

Notes

FAI Cup Final this weekend, and not a word in the meejah about it.
