The Green Banner

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Our dearest beloved
All over the world.
Have passion undimmed.
For the banner unfurled.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The banner whose colours
Have seen vexing days.
Has sheltered its children
Through life’s troubled ways.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The banner round which
we gather and sing.
Lauds the team that we love
And the the honour they bring.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 In many a land
Where our banner was seen.
New friends came our way.
For the hoops: white and green.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But the banner returns
From its journeys afar.
And we flock to the Park
Drawn by bus, train and car.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 As we sing from the stands.
Of our history proud.
The banner smiles down.
On the Celts in the crowd.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Celtic: ‘Hail Hail’
Are the words on the crest.
For the banner is all.
That we hold dear and best.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 So once again friends
In the dark of the night.
Look up to the skies.
And our banner so bright.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Praise all the good times.
In the place where we dream.
With the banner we bear
For our Celtic team.
