They want to take us from Anfield & build somewhere new
Well it’s better than ground share with a team in the blue
There are those who say “No! “We can’t leave our home”
“This place is so sacred each brick and each stone”
“The cups we’ve paraded the titles we’ve won
The glorious games ‘neath the old Anfield sun”
Would they knock down Old Trafford to put in more seats
Course they would La Prawn butties don’t come cheap!

They took down The Kop now we sit when we sing
And I know it’s not the same but safety is the thing
For every title and cup and honour we’ve won
I’d swap each and all to bring back just one
Of the 96 souls whose precious lives where lost
‘Cos of old fashioned views and allegiance to cost
Anfield’s not a monument to cement and to steel
But a spirit in our hearts come to life when we sing

The memories are forever and fine ones they are too
And they’ll all come with us when the time comes to move
And yes there’ll be sadness and yes there’s be tears
The stories recalled of our history here
The pride of Milan who we sent home 3-1
St Etienne’s role in the greatest match-bar none
The wonderful goals and the great night of yore
The songs from The Kop and a win was assured

The soul of Bill Shankly how gracefully it shines
Remembers the pain in our hearts when the great man retired
The wisdom of Paisley the vine in good hands
It’s fruit borne the finest the best in the land
The games that we witnessed those blessed who drew near
But time waits for no one tho’ its progress we fear
But as we move forward and it pains to depart
Old Anfield comes with us in each Kopites heart.
