The Penalty Shoot Out

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Coventry City fans in their thousands
walking proudly down Wembley Way,
the atmosphere is electric
on this a boiling hot day.
The Sky Blues flags flying high
noise and excitement building up,
I’m feeling positive like back in 87
when we went and won the FACup.
But the City have started very slow
first half belongs to Luton Town,
they deservedly lead at half-time
we haven’t yet really settled down.
After the break we play much better
more of a real attacking threat,
then our midfield maestro Hamer
strokes the ball into their net.
The two teams are now all level
game of 2 halves as they like to say,
can my team go on and get a winner
is it going to be our day ?
But it goes on to extra- time
and then it ends all square,
so now it’s those dreaded penalties
finger nails bitten, pulled out hair.
The spot kicks are all taken well
no misses by any player so far,
until unfortunately our Fankaty Dabo
hits his penalty high over the bar.
So the Hatters are the winners
for the Sky Blues it’s not meant to be,
but it’s still been a fantastic season
for my beloved club of Coventry.

Notes

So we just missed out to Luton Town in the play off final. But they gave it their all but just came up short. Yet what a tremendous campaign it has been, an unbelievable effort by the players.
But we go again next season ! PUSB ⚽️
