The True Football Fan

The true football fan wherever in the world he goes
Come Saturday at 5pm he will always find the scores
In the bars of Magaluf and the cafes of Madrid
Puzzled waiters are often asked “Do you know how City did?”

From the steppes of Russia to the coast of Labrador
Up goes the plaintiff cry “does anyone here – know the score?”
And
If an English football fan was the first man on the moon
Everything would go to plan, unless it was Saturday afternoon
Then we wouldn’t hear “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”
But
“Hey, Houston can we have the scores from Earth, it’s getting near full-time”
