The Visit

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Lilibet came to visit last week
To the capital city of Cork
Ground breaking whatever your clique
House of Lancaster, Fraser or York

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 English Market she’ll first navigate
Fresh produce of the highest repute
Founded seventeen eighty eight
Then off to Tyndall Institute

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 It’s a pity we weren’t at home.
You could have stayed to see City, Nil Satis.
Rejigged Donie Forde with a throne
Entry and Programme free gratis

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A half time Corners Boys escort
To Horseshoe Bar could be tricky
Transporting you and your consort
For a Gin and Dubonnet with Ricky

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Full time then you’d be airport bound
Our taxi man Bickle’s a surety
Be sure though and take off the crown
To get fast tracked through airport security

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 And as you return home with glee
Having made some new friends out of strangers
Pledge allegiance, Cork City F.C.
And leave off your promoted Park Rangers

Notes

It’s an honour for me to finally reach the 100 mark and to celebrate that by submitting a poem marking Queen Elizabeths visit to Cork last Friday.

She visited the English Market and the Tyndall Research Institute.

If only we’d been at home…..

Donie Forde is the main stand at our ground in Turners Cross.
Corner Boys are a group of supporters who like a half time tipple.
