When the final whistle blew,
The nerves evaporated,
The niggly doubts
Replaced by shouts

When the final whistle blew,
All tension was forgotten,
The fears there’d been

When the final whistle blew,
The crowd all rose together,
Cried out at those

When the final whistle blew,
All thoughts of Cork were banished,
The quest for news,
Win, draw or lose,
Was swept away and vanished.

When the final whistle blew,
Relief was unreserved,
For most agreed
Our three point lead
Was totally deserved.

When the final whistle blew,
Success was proved conclusive.
Wins back to back,
Despite the flak,
Had not turned out elusive.
