Nothing To Gain

When you’re the lowest team in your league,
The other teams repeatedly beating you down.
You always feel as if you’re under siege,
Constantly wearing a frown.

“I don’t mind not winning,
But it’s when our other players
Take the mick out of our struggles
It really gets on my nerves.
Because us three give it our all,
100% each week.
Our other girls are a waste of time
Letting the opposition get into space.”

Words spoken by one of the three,
Which I entirely agree with.
It’s a matter of sorting out those players
Or forming a new team of our own.

One of us, ready to leave
The second, willing to follow.
And myself, without the necessary skill
But just as fed up as them.

So be it.
We might lose two of the best girls
I’ve ever had the chance to play with.
And if we do
My playing, for one, is over
Because there isn’t a will, or a way
That I’ll stand by
And carry on with the remaining.
There’s nothing bright at the end of this tunnel,

Nothing to turn the tables
Nothing to say
Nothing to gain.
