London’s Burning

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Sorry son the games off today,
Anarchy rules, it’s so sad to say.
No game tonight down at the Palace,
Football loses out to sheer malice.
No bubbles blowing at Upton Park,
Police are too busy after dark.
Down at the Valley there’s not a sound,
No cheering crowd at Latics ground.
Holland not playing the friendly game,
It’s easy to point and shift the blame.
But the feral mobs that loot and burn,
So puerile they will never learn.
That justice will put them all to shame,
For nothing is bigger than the game.

Notes

Spare the rod and spoil the child comes to mind.
I was one of ten children, and if we couldn’t afford it we went without, and we always were taught respect.
