That we may see them kiss the cup
But then we know it’s just a dream
For the Brazilian made us give up

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They’re not allowed to wear yellow
We thought it would prevent their luck
Indeed our team are just mellow
Sometimes our hope felt just suck

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Owen made us dancing and yell
Until they showed all their trumps
The triple R indeed as well
Make our defenders looked like chumps

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Ninety minutes were just so quick
To send us home with such a numb
The death knell rang since the free kick
That made old Seaman looked so dumb

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And so they went to the next round
While we prepared the home ticket
At least we saved our last pound
To watch the next game of cricket

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 But we still watch the final match
Where our old chums were next beaten
Ronaldo gave Kahn a blatant scratch
Which won’t be easily forgotten

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Then for one thing we could be glad
For their joy we could just see
While some countries were so mad
To all those corrupt referee

We pray to Thee in Jesus’ name
As we read that in what they wore
Will You back us in our next game?

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 This is the fact we have to face
We’re not really that good. It’s true!
Four years to come in the same race
We’ll try again. Now stop the rue!
