1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Hardly as “delicate as a Japanese print
in the mist” on an autumnal morning
nor subtle as a seventies soccer shirt
as worn by Terry Yorath at Coventry
ye old Teignmouth Road was
former home of Clevedon Town
non-league football club in Somerset
though hardly of great renown.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The stadium sat in its splendour
though there wasn’t much there
a testament to mediocrity
a monument to mundane
with corrugated iron aplenty
to keep players from punters
not that there were too many
frequenting that ball park.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Now as Clevedon town is situated
around seven hills (just like Rome)
Teignmouth Road wasn’t flat
perhaps slightly inclined
to receive a helping Hand
for to migrate from the centre
they now play in Davis Lane
two miles from Clevedon Pier.
