It seems a veritable age
Since Ollie’s handball caused such rage
And, Derry’s remonstrations spurned,
Their fury went beyond the gauge.

When playing in that Northern hell,
And points are very seldom earned
Within the fortress Brandywell.

Although we stretched and fought and strained,
And title talk became adjourned,
Until at other times ordained.

They seem to pump up their physique,
And thus we’ve downcast oft returned
Without the victory we might seek.

Brought desolation to an end,

When Kelly, as could be discerned,
Fumbled and was left to wonder.

With Glenn’s true worth again revealed,
And all our inner thoughts were churned
By rapture on and off the field.

Chalk the points up just when needed.
Thus the football screw is turned,
If the failings have been heeded.
