He sits at home and turns off the T.V
Cancels the paper and self pity is easy.
The garden is a painful scene with it’s lush grass
Tries as he might his thoughts don’t escape
Still wondering how he was the victim of a farce.

The squad are ready and have packed their bags
No room for him and now the day drags.
His goals meant something but now he is dumped
They may mention him if the team have lost
But he is forgotten when they are winning and pumped.

Little did he know he would be spurned.
This summer misery will be his shadow
Retreat from sorrowful eyes and hope not to be found
Even more so if they emerge victorious into hallow.

People waving flags and cars honking their horns
Jubilant atmosphere beyond the curtains drawn.
Secretly in guilt a wish that they fail
Then everyone would be begging for his return
If not, time to realise that he will no longer avail.
