While she lay there dying and the lovelorn fans were crying,
We came together to say Goodbye,
And as the pilgrims massed, the hour of death had passed,
We breathed the collective sigh.

We can all be proud to be one of the crowd,
We can all take a share of the glory,
Our City is saved because of the brave,
Not just another sad story.
¶ 3

No last rites, no epitaph, no mourning, no wake,
But lessons must be learned I say,
For never should we ever have to cry these words again,
“Please don’t take my City away!”
